Responsibilities:

As CTO, you will help the founders define strategy and technical architecture (back and front end). You will be responsible for the technology supporting this marketplace and will guide the technical vision. You don't have to have a start-up background, but must have an entrepreneurial spirit and dedication.

Qualifications:

* From top schools: Graduate degree (MS or PhD) in EECS, CS or related field preferred; BS with a few years of highly relevant programming experience is a possibility too

* Knowledge of search algorithms, speech-recognition technology, and artificial intelligence

* Budget conscious and understand the climate of working at a start-up

* Strong analytical, quantitative, and programming skills

* Some experience with managing small/medium teams

Technical Skills:

* Web architecture and application design capability

* Software design pattern understanding

* Testing knowledge and experience

* Linux server installation, maintenance, and upgrades

* Technical project planning and scoping (timeline and deliverables)

* Object-Oriented design skills, knowledge e.g., PHP, Java, Ruby, Python, etc

* Excellent XML development experience

* Database design skills (SQL knowledge)
